Read on for news, opportunities and leads in China, India, Malaysia, Zambia, an opportunity to get started trading spices .… and an invaluable site that can help you find over ten million suppliers or customers worldwide.

Doing Business With China To Become Easier
***************************************
Doing business with China could become easier with the news that the Import and Export Bank of China will offer more support to small and medium-sized enterprises (or SME's) - Liang Xiang, the bank governor's assistant, recently said.

Previously the Import and Export Bank of China put its service focus on large enterprises and projects, but now it will provide services for more SME's in China. Measures to be introduced include targeting help and advice towards SME's, lowering the threshold for advancing loans and even establishing a special fund to provide a guarantee for commercial bank direct loans to these organisations.

China Agricultural Exports Growing Fast
************************************
China is most often thought of as a source of low cost manufactured goods …. but it is becoming a growing source of agricultural products too, creating more opportunities for international traders. Exports of farm products rose 23% year on year to US$19.6 billion in the first nine months of 2005. Jiang Zhenghua, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), said 'The fast rise of imports and exports in farm products is a reflection of the country's growing economic strength and increasing international influence.' He called for greater efforts to strengthen construction of infrastructure, adjust product mix and build a modern agricultural industry based on scientific and technological processes.

As you will know there are a lot of sites about trading with China, and not all of them are that useful. Here are a few we think are worth taking a look at : Trade Sources at www.tradesources.com. Made In China at www.made-in-china.com. China Excite at

www.chinaexcite.com - not the easiest site to use but has genuine trade links. Built In China at www.builtinchina.com offers to find manufacturers for you - a great idea, although we're not sure how well it operates in practice.

As The Currency Falls …. Your Export Opportunities Rise !
****************************************************
The Indian rupee has seen a new one-year decline against the US Dollar in foreign exchange markets. But the fall is proving good news to Indian exporters and foreign traders by making India's products more attractive in world markets. This is particularly the case for products where India competes head-on with China, such as textiles and clothing. Additionally, the Chinese Yuan has become stronger compared to the US Dollar even though the Dollar is pegged in value, and in practice that has made Indian products 6.45% more competitive compared to Chinese products over the same period.

There are lots of sites to help you if you want to start or develop trade with India. The official Department of Commerce site is at www.commerce.nic.in. The India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) also have a useful site at www.tradeportalofindia.com.

Get Started In Trading …. Spices
*****************************
Spices are one of the oldest-traded products in the world - possibly the oldest. Archaeologists estimate that by 50,000 BC primitive man had discovered that parts of certain aromatic plants help make food taste better. Today, trade in spices like pepper, oregano, paprika, basil, nutmeg, cinnamon and chilli is a massive worldwide industry and, because spices are relatively easy to ship and in high demand, it's not too difficult to get started. If you're interested in this trade then, as a first point of contact, we suggest ASTA's site at www.astaspice.org. The American Spice Trade Association is a USA based organisation but has a worldwide membership comprised of the leading firms in the spice industry. On their website you'll find lots of useful information to help you get started in the spice trade.

Malaysia Exports Up
******************

Malaysia's exports rose 7.4% last month, compared to a year earlier, to total US£12.6 billion - according to the Malaysia Trade Ministry. Electronics account for about half the country's sales abroad and rising global demand for mobile phones, digital cameras and personal computers is fuelling orders for semiconductors. Shipments of oil and gas also increased. Exports to the United States, Malaysia's biggest market, rose 12.8% while exports to Hong Kong grew considerably, and to China itself increased steadily. 'Exports

have sustained at high levels, supported by a recovery in global chip sales' said Julia Goh, economist at CIMB Securities in Kuala Lumpur. The outlook for Malaysian exports and the manufacturing sector remains positive, underpinned by a recovery in global electronics demand and commodity prices.'

Matrade is Malaysia's national trade promotion agency, and has a very comprehensive site at :  www.matrade.gov.my.

Exploit The Potential In Zambia
****************************

There is tremendous potential for numerous Zambian products to penetrate the export market. This is the message being promoted by the Export Bank of Zambia (EBZ) during its campaign of 'export sensitisation seminars' currently being held in various parts of the country. The seminars, led by EBZ chairperson Ms Miriam Nkunika, involved delegates from local businesses, Government departments and foreign embassies. Some of the products believed to have tremendous export potential are : Wood and wood products, crafts, raw hides and skins, cashew nuts, rice, cassava milling, livestock production and fisheries, honey and beeswax, and mango processing.

There aren't a lot of Zambia import-export sites, but this one is good for news and links : Zambia Times at www.times.co.zm.

Find Any Company Or Product .... Quickly And Free
**********************************************
A common problem in import-export occurs when you know the product or even the company producing whatever you want to buy, but you can't find the right place to contact them. Paper directories can be difficult to use, expensive and out of date. But that needn't be a problem anymore : Simply go to Kellysearch at www.kellysearch.co.uk where you can search quickly by company name or product/service type and get contacts for over two million companies and over ten million products. Kellysearch operates worldwide but is particularly strong for English speaking markets, including those outside the UK.
