Wade World Trade Super-profit Seminar
*************************************

May I first of all take this opportunity to tell you about our forthcoming seminar. It promises to be a fantastically useful and enjoyable day. For anyone involved in (or hoping to become involved in) import/export it offers advice, tips and inside information on everything from marketing to product sourcing, and from shipping to contracts. There is even a section on tax planning. Plus we have specialist speakers representing both the leading Indian and Chinese trade organisations. What's more, it is a unique opportunity to meet other agents and to network. Although the seminar isn't until 15th November, space is limited and I do recommend that you reserve your place now. Telephone our office on +44 (0)161 427 3513 or email info@wadetrade.com. Remember to mention that you are a Member of the Wade World Traders' Club and/or that you have taken one of our courses as this entitles you to an enormous (and I mean enormous) discount and brings the cost down to a very reasonable price.

Bangladesh Frozen Food Exports Growing
*************************************

Frozen food is becoming a growing export from Bangladesh. The country earned US$500 million from exporting frozen food over the last 12 months - a considerable increase on the previous year. The President of the Bangladesh Frozen Food Exporters' Association ( BFFEA) Kazi Belayet made the announcement at a recent conference in Khulna, held to discuss the development of the shrimp industry. According to BFFEA, there are over 130 export-oriented fish processing factories in the country and at present prawns are cultivated on 140,000 hectares while lobsters on 30,000 hectares of land. Bangladesh exports its frozen food to 40 foreign countries including the UK, USA, Canada and Japan.

The BFFEA site at www.bffea.org sometimes has technical problems. But Bangladesh's Export Promotion Bureau has a very useful site at www.epb.gov.bd.

Vietnam Clothing Industry Now Exceeds US$5 Billion In Exports
********************************************************
Vietnam exported clothing items worth over US$5 billion in the first eight months of this year. This was the first time exports have exceeded US$5 billion, and represented a 30% increase over the same period last year according to the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS). In August alone, Vietnam exported clothing worth US$830 million. The country has set a target of US$7 billion of clothing exports for 2007, and looks well on the way to exceeding this.

VITAS works to encourage local garment enterprises to further explore traditional markets such as the USA, EU and Japan, as well as find new ones. It also helps them to focus on building trademarks, strengthen trade promotion, increasing product quality and improving design, marketing and management.

Here are a couple of leads if you're interested in sourcing clothing from Vietnam: Vietnam Textile & Garment Industry Expo. at www.vfabric.com/textile/textile.html and the Danh Ba website at www.vietnamwebsite.net/maymac3.htm.

Polish Economy Looking Good
***************************

Poland seems to be taking full advantage of its 2004 membership of the European Union. Data on GDP growth published by the Central Statistical Office (GUS) recently indicates that the Polish economy is growing stronger as a result - according to the Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Zyta Gilowska. GUS reported that GDP grew by 6.7% in the second quarter of 2007 after 7.4% growth in the first quarter of 2007. Gilowska said 'The structure of this growth is very favourable as there is a very high investment growth. And this means that the economy is developing fast.' Zyta Gilowska also believes that GDP growth should exceed 6% overall by the end of 2007.

Try the Ministry of Economy (Ministerstwo Gospodarki) website as a starting point for exploring Poland import-export opportunities. You can find it at www.mg.gov.pl. (There's also an English version available.)

New York Clothing Market To Boom ?
*********************************
The clothing and footwear market in New York could offer more opportunities for importers and exporters with the news that consumers shopping in New York will no longer have to pay the city taxes on purchases of most clothes and shoes. Before the tax changes, which were introduced by Mayor Michael Bloomberg, came into effect shoppers had to pay 4% in city sales tax plus state tax. (However, a 4.375% state sales tax still applies on items costing US$110 or more.)

Bloomberg proposed the measure as part of a US$1.3 billion tax relief package that also includes cutting property taxes. As well as millions of local consumers New York city also attracts tourists and visitors (estimated at around 44 million annually) from all around the world who spend millions of dollars on clothes here each year.

India Exports To Reach US$160 Billion Target In 2008
***********************************************
India's Commerce Ministry (www.commerce.nic.in) recently announced that it is confident of attaining its export target of US$160 billion during the 2008 financial year - despite slow export growth this year. The Commerce Secretary, G.K. Pillai, said that the target of US$160 billion could be achieved in the current fiscal year, provided the rupee remains at 40-41 to the dollar. The ministry estimates exports from India will reach US$300 billion, with imports at US$400 billion, by 2012-13 - assuming continued strong growth in the manufacturing sector, mainly through the SEZ special economic zones.

Pillai said that merchandise exports growth in July stood at 16% in dollar terms, adding that steps would be introduced to further boost exports in consultation with various export promotion councils. However, he ruled out any additional relief measures for the export community in the near future.

California's Other Export !
***********************
California is better known for its movie industry but it has many other strong industries too. If it was a country, the state would be one of the largest economies in the world! Wine production is a major contributor to the state's economy and offers some attractive opportunities for traders. Wine earns around US$50 billion annually and wine exports are growing at around 5% per year. California now has over one thousand wineries, many of which are keen to export.

You can get more information on California wine from California's Wine Institute website at www.wineinstitute.org and the California Association of Winegrape Growers website at www.cawg.org.
