Trading With The US? Don't Miss This :
*****************************************************
Within the next few years the USA will no longer be the main export destination for Asian exporters. Lawrence H. Summers, president of Harvard University and the former secretary of the US Treasury, recently urged Asian exporters who depend on the US market to prepare themselves for a possible economic slowdown, and seek out new markets. In a lecture at the Samsung Global Investors Conference 2007 hosted by Samsung Securities in Seoul, Summers forecast US annual economic growth would be only around 2% for the next few years due to falling domestic consumption and the property market slump. Mr. Summers said 'The US economy is 30% likely to experience a slowdown next year. Because of its excessive current accounts deficit, it won't be able to maintain its voracious demand for Asian imports. This year will probably be the last chance for major Asian exporting countries to exploit the American market.'

Saskatchewan Leading Export Growth In 2007
**************************************************************
You might never have heard of the Canadian province of Saskatchewan, but it has become a hotspot for international trade this year! Saskatchewan's international exports are forecast to grow by 9% in 2007, the highest of all provinces, with 2% growth to follow in 2008 - according to a provincial export outlook by Export Development Canada (EDC) - go to www.edc.ca for more details. 'Saskatchewan should lead Canada's export growth in 2007 based on strong crop production, higher demand and prices, as well as strong potash and fertiliser production' said Stephen Poloz, Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs and Chief Economist. 'While export growth will slow in the important energy sector, the strong performance in Saskatchewan's agri-foods and industrial goods sectors will boost the province's overall export numbers.' Another good official Canadian trade site is www.infoexport.gc.ca.

Philippine Exports Rise To Reach New Record
**************************************************************
Philippine export growth unexpectedly boomed to the highest level ever last month. Export sales increased 10.6% to a record US$4.57 billion from a year earlier, according to the National Statistics Office in Manila. That followed a 7% rise the previous month. Increased shipments to China and other Asian markets are helping boost foreign exchange reserves, cutting interest payments and allowing the government to invest and create jobs. The government's growth target is 6.1% this year. Major export growth opportunities include electronics (which make up two thirds of the Philippines' total exports) sales of which grew 9.6% to US$3.04 billion last month. Copper, gold and other mineral shipments increased 77% after rising 54% the month before, while woodcrafts and furniture more than doubled.

The DTI website at www.dti.gov.ph is a good starting point if you want to trade with the Philippines.

South West England Export Hotspot
************************************************
Exports from south west England are shooting up as the region's firms discover the trade opportunities in Eastern Europe, say economists. Between 2001 and 2006 exports from the south west grew by 34% - well above the national rate of 27%. The fastest growing area for export was to European countries which are not part of the EU. This is according to research carried out by the South West Observatory and the South West of England Regional Development Agency. Their South West Regional Economic Profile Report says that since 1999 the number of companies exporting goods has increased by 4.6% annually and the value of goods exported has risen by 6.4% annually. An Easy Way To Do More 'BISNIS' With Russia !
**************************************************************
After being hidden away behind the Iron Curtain for decades Russia is now an integral part of the international trading community - and has massive potential as both a supplier and a market. However, it can still be difficult to find reliable information and trading partners, due to language difficult and the remoteness of some parts of the country - especially those some distance from Moscow. But here's a good site if you're interested in increasing trading opportunities with Russia: BISNIS is the US government's primary market information centre for US companies (but it can be used by others) exploring export and investment opportunities in Russia and Eurasia. BISNIS provides the latest market reports and tips on developments, export and investment leads, and strategies for doing business here. Since 1992 BISNIS has enabled more than US$4 billion worth of exports and overseas investments. For more information visit: www.bisnis.doc.gov.

Have You Considered Trading With .... Egypt ?
**************************************************************
Egypt is one of the world's oldest trading nations - apparently it has been importing and exporting for at least seven thousand years! The economy is heavily reliant on tourism, earnings from the Suez Canal and money from Egyptians working abroad but the country does have a thriving manufacturing sector, producing a range of low cost products. Principal Egyptian exports are food, furniture, leather products, garments and textiles. Principle imports include chemicals, mechanical equipment, medical supplies, metal products, plastic products and refrigeration equipment.

The Egyptian Trading Directory at www.egtrade.com is a good trading site for Egypt. It provides news, information and contacts, including many little-known sources of supply. Egypt Search at www.egyptsearch.com is good for tracking down sources of other information you might need.
